When the Lambert Airport Rotary Club was formed in 1983, Charles R. (Chuck) Ehlert started his Rotary career as Charter president. He served in that position almost a year and a half, from idea conception to the end of the first full year as a Club . He then served as vice president, and has been on the Board many years.
Chuck served as district newsletter editor for several  years, and also as an Assistant Governor.  He recently received the Four Avenues of Service from the Lambert Club, is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow, and his wife Carol is also a Paul Harris Fellow.
They have two daughters and a son, and three grandchildren.
Upon graduation from the University of Missouri with a Bachelor of Journalism degree Chuck was commissioned Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army where he served two years on Active Duty. He then served 28 years in the Active Reserve and retired as a Colonel.
Following active duty he worked as editor and publisher of weekly newspapers in the St. Louis area for four years, then joined Ozark Air Lines and was director of public relations when the carrier merged 20 years later. Chuck then started and continues to operate his own business,  Eventtours, a group tour operator.
Prior to Rotary he was active in the Jaycees for many years, serving as Region Vice President, National Director (region president) and state Vice President.
He has worked with several professional and civic organizations, including: Aviation/Space Writers Association as an international director and international convention chairman; Multiple Sclerosis Society as a member of the board and and executive committee; Combined Health Appeal as a  founding board member; Habitat for Humanity of St. Charles County on the board, executive committee and PR chairperson.
