District Governor Scott Harness
became a member of the Festus/Crystal City in 1992 at the invitation of his
father who was then the President-Elect of that club. Scott served his club
in several offices and on the board of directors for nine years and was
President during the 2003-04 Rotary year. During his year as President his
club first obtained the Century Club level for giving to the Annual Programs
Fund of our Rotary Foundation. He was appointed as an assistant governor in
2004. He was selected to serve on the Show Me Rotary Council for a
three-year term starting in 2005. Scott and his wife, Stephanie are both
Paul Harris Fellows and Major Donors to our Rotary Foundation. Scott is a member of the Paul Harris Society of
Rotary District 6060.
After graduating from Hastings College
in Hastings, Nebraska, Scott attended the University of Missouri - Columbia,
School of Law where his devotion to the Nebraska Football program made life
problematic on Monday’s during the fall. He was admitted to the Missouri
Bar Association in 1991. He is currently a partner with the law firm of
Coleman & Harness, P.C. with offices in Festus and Arnold. He has a general
civil and criminal practice with emphasis in domestic litigation and estate
planning. In 1997 Scott became one of the first court certified family
mediators in the 23rd Judicial Circuit under a pilot program of
the Missouri Bar. He was twice elected to the Festus City Council and
served on the city’s planning and zoning board. In 2004 he was elected
Municipal Judge of the City of Herculaneum. Scott is a member of the
Missouri Bar Association and the Missouri Municipal and Associate Circuit
Judges Association.
Scott and Stephanie have three young
children, Rachel, Beth and Ryan. Stephanie is a special education teacher
with the Jefferson County Special Educational Co-op and sings with the
Starlight Community Chorus. Scott collects lawyer jokes, bowls, and is a
rabid Nebraska Football and St. Louis Cardinals fan.
