The Matching Grant Program matches contributions raised by Rotary clubs and districts for international service projects involving Rotary clubs in two or more countries. Frequently, these are World Community Service (WCS) projects, published semi-annually in the WCS Projects Exchange. Many clubs double the effectiveness of their efforts with these one-time grants of up to US$50,000.

Our district and several of our clubs are working on Matching Grants at this time.  We are posting some information about them to raise awareness of the work our district and clubs are doing internationally. It is also important to realize that your club, no matter how small, can team up with other clubs and make a difference in the International Avenue of Service.

Beginning July 1, 2002, the rules of how  funds  are matched and when  grants  can be applied for have changed dramatically. All grants  from clubs within District 6060 must send in their applications and all subsequent paperwork via our District Foundation Chairman.

Email District 6060 Foundation Chairman for more information.

RC of Bangalore Basaveswaranagar

The Rotary Club of St. Peters has teamed up with the RC of Bangalore Basaveswaranagar in District 3190, India to purchase some cows, chickens, and kitchen and school equipment for a school for the mentally handicapped.

This is a grant totaling nearly US $4,000 with each Rotary Club providing 25% of the funds and our Rotary Foundation  approving funding for the remaining 50%.

Status: Project completed. Final Report has been filed. Project closed.

This project was featured in the June 2003 issue of The Rotarian magazine. A large section of this issue was dedicated to the use of technology in Rotary service. These two clubs met each other via the Rotary Fellowship ROTI and it's Sisters Sought area to help clubs find Sister Clubs in another part of the world.  Below is a link to the page of The Rotarian featuring this project.
