Matching Grant 23287 - RC of Tacna, Peru D4300

This project was developed between the Rotary Club of Tacna, Peru, D4300 and RC of Hannibal, Missouri, D6060. 

The Rotary Club of Tacna has sent Rotary Exchange Students to D6060 at least twice in the last 3 years and also a RYE student from D6060 has been hosted by the RC of Tacna in 2002-2003.

This project purchased many different pieces of kitchen equipment for " Hogar Madre María Angélica Recharte," which takes in children that have been abandoned.

This was a remarkable project due to the connection between the two clubs and also due to the RC of Tacna celebrating their 75th anniversary of their charter by implementing several projects.

This grant was applied for in late March and was approved in early April 2003. The Tacna Rotarians received their funding and delivered and installed the equipment in mid and late June 2003.   All done in record time!

     The young people, the nuns, and Rotarians all gathered in June when the new kitchen equipment arrived. 

Everyone gathers around the new stove and freezer.

The equipment also included a new microwave oven, a juice extractor, a blender and several small items.

The Rotary Club of Tacna dedicated a plaque on the building to commemorate the project and the alliance with the Rotary Club of Hannibal.
