Ambulance Project

This project was developed between the Rotary Club of Sherpur, Bangladesh and Rotary Club of Kirkwood, Missouri.

Kirkwood Rotarian Dr. Sudha Saha and her husband, Dr. Nitai Saha travel to Sherpur regularly. While there visiting family they also donate their services as physicians and surgeons to the less fortunate living in this region.

The nearest ambulance is 30 miles away and can take 2 hours or more to reach Sherpur and then there is another 2 hours or more to reach the nearest hospital. Many folks cannot survive this long.

This matching grant project will provide an ambulance to the city of Sherpur. Dr. Saha is making plans to insure that adequate funds are also available for fuel and for an ambulance driver/worker.

The ambulance will be funded by a Major Matching Grant from our Rotary Foundation. It will cost approximately $20,000.

Project Status:  Project cancelled due to Rotary's suspension of District 3280.
