Matching Grant # 58059 - Rotary District 3160 - India 
Water Well Project

This matching grant project will fund 39 water wells and handpumps.  These wells will be located throughout the region of D3160, India.

In addition to Rotary District 3160, other funding partners are the Rotary Districts 6060 - Missouri,
6490 - east-central Illinois,
6510  - southern Illinois
and 6670 - Ohio

The project partner is Rotary District 3160 and the international partner is the Rotary Club of Sparta, IL, D6510.
 

Clean water is extremely scarce in this region of India, resulting in many of the poor population having to walk for hours a day to find a good source of water, or risk illness and death if a closer, contaminated water source is used.

Each well will supply a small village of approximately 100 families or more, roughly 500 people. So, this project will help nearly 20,000 have a nearby source of clean water.

Our Rotary Foundation will invest just over US $1,000 for each of these wells. The partnering Rotary Districts have funded their portions of the project with District Designated Funds, so that the project funds can arrive as soon as possible once the project is approved.

Here in D6060, we encourage our Rotarians or any of our Rotary Clubs to sponsor this well project by donating $50 per member to the Annual Programs Fund of our Rotary Foundation.

Individual Rotarians can donate to the Annual Programs Fund to sponsor one or more $50 "Shares of Support" for our water well project.

Donations from D6060 Clubs or Rotarians should be made payable to "Rotary Foundation" and mailed to Foundation Chairman Todd Lindley, with a note that you would like this donation to help sponsor one of the water wells.
