Rotary International organizes districts together in
groups of 12 or 13 districts called a Zone. Usually two
neighboring zones meet together annually and hold training and
informational sessions. Six of the twenty-four Rotary District
Governors of Zones 29 & 30 decided to
work together in the 2006-2007 Rotary year to fund a project in Zambia
with then Governor Patrick Coleman's district 9210. This project will
fund the installation of six water wells near grade schools
in six villages of rural Zambia.
The partner districts are District 6060-eastern
Missouri; District 6190 - Louisiana; District 6460 - western Illinois;
District 6710 - western Kentucky; and District 6820 - Mississippi; all
working together with the Rotary Club of Choma, Zambia and Rotary
District 9210, which includes Malawi, parts of Mozambique, Zambia, and
Zimbabwe.
The wells are going to be installed in the Zambia
villages of Chaambya, Mweebo, Mulwani, Siamabwe, Sikuyuba, and Tara.
Rotarians invested $44,000 via our Rotary
Foundation in this project. |
