Matching Grant # 61842 - Rotary District 3100 - India
Anti-Rabies Vaccine Project

This Rotary Foundation Matching Grant project funded the purchase of two refrigerators and 2,500 doses of anti-rabies vaccine to save the lives of up to 500 children in the region of Moradabad, India.

There are many rabid dogs running wild and frequently children are bitten. The government hospitals do not pay for the anti-rabies vaccine, which means the children will die.  Vaccination must begin on the day the child is bitten and is given 5 times over the following 30 days.

The project club is the Rotary Club of Moradabad Sanskiti, India, District 3100. The international partner is the Rotary Club of Sullivan, Missouri, USA, D6060. Additonal funding partners are Rotary Districts 3100, India and 6060, Missouri.

Rotarians of Moradabad Sanskriti Rotary Club are celebrating the inauguration of this project.

A dose of Anti-Rabies vaccine is presented to the local health department officials, representing the 2,500 doses being purchased through this project.

One of the project refrigerators, necessary to store the vaccine at the proper temperature is dedicated.

Project status: completed.
