About Our Club
District 6060 web site

The Overland Rotary Club began a Dictionary Project in 2003, along with its Rotary Centennial Twin Club, the Rotary Club of Islamabad (Capital Area), Pakistan. The project was received warmly by the students and teachers and so the club has decided to continue the project annually.

Webster's Dictionaries are purchased via the Southern California Dictionary Project. They are presented to every third grade student in all Ritenour grade schools and all the parochial grade schools in our club's region. Every Hispanic student receives two English-Spanish/Spanish-English dictionaries, one for home and one for school.

Approximately 600 regular dictionaries and 45 bilingual dictionaries are presented by Overland Rotarians each year.  Each dictionary has a bookplate attached to the inside of the front cover. This bookplate has the Rotary wheel, Four Way Test, and the inscription, "The Rotary Club of Overland, Missouri presents this dictionary to: ______________________"

We have continued this project every year since 2003.
