The
Overland Rotary Club was chartered in 1947 with a service
area
coinciding with The Ritenour School District, which
encompasses
parts of nine communities. These include
Overland, St. John,
Sycamore Hills, Breckenridge Hills,
parts of St. Ann and a few others.
Overland Rotary supports
several local organizations, including the YMCA,
a local Boy Scout
troop, the Ritenour Immunization Clinic, and
Home Heights
Community Development, Inc.
We annually award funds to
graduates living in the Ritenour
School District to help
with college expenses.
Every year the Overland Rotary Club tries to stay active in all
Four Avenues of Service, following the Rotary model. Rotary's
Four
Avenues of Service are Club Service, Community Service,
Vocational Service,
and International Service. In addition to the
Community Service
projects discussed in the previous paragraph,
we recognize an
Overland Vocational Person of the Year. This is
a business person or
professional person living or working in
Overland who we believe
deserves recognition for the excellent
work they do. We also plan
Club activities to educate our
members about Rotary and enjoy some
social functions with our
spouses and families. Finally, the Overland
Rotary Club actively
supports International projects through direct
donations of funds
and goods and services. We also have supported
The Rotary
Foundation on an annual basis.
We raise
funds to support our chosen beneficiaries through
a variety of projects.
We usually hold a Trivia Night once or twice a year and we have a plant sale in the
spring. Typically, we also have a Spring Auction in the even years.
