Download Criteria
- To be eligible to submit a CAP Grant application, a committee including the Club President, Club President-Elect, and Club Grants Coordinator must have completed the Club Certification Training, and one of those individuals must be the primary contact for the project.
- The Grant cannot be used to fund existing projects or a project that was previously done by the club.
- Projects must not fund activities primarily sponsored by another organization or fund operation expenses of another organization.
- Projects must not directly benefit a Rotarian, an employee of a club, district or other Rotary entity or of Rotary International, or a spouse, lineal descendent, a spouse of a lineal descendent, or an ancestor of any living Rotarian or Rotary employee.
- Project funds may not be used for travel, salaries or other administrative overhead costs.
- Projects must be Rotary sponsored and publicly identified as such. However, grant funds may not be used to purchase or place Rotary recognition items.
- Projects must not involve liability on the part of Rotary International or its Foundation except to provide the amount of the grant.
- Program funds may not be used to reimburse applicants for projects already initiated or completed.
- Funds may not be used to purchase land, buildings or to construct substantial buildings. Funds must be used in compliance with the Foundation's policies on construction and renovation.
- Project funds cannot be used to fund the on-going projects of a Rotary club or district. This does not prevent the replication of successful projects that will benefit additional communities.
- Projects that receive CAP funds must be of a short-term nature with the expectation that they will be completed within 2-3 months of payment. A final report is due by February 28, 2011.
- Project sponsors must agree to work within the Trustee established Stewardship Guidelines and utilize the Financial Guidelines and Regulations for Humanitarian Grant Projects.
- Projects should address one of the Presidential Focus Areas of Disease Prevention and Treatment, Maternal and Child Health, Literacy, Water and Sanitation, Economic and Community Development, Peace and Conflict Resolution, and Youth .
- Projects must be at least $2,000 in scope with the local Rotary club contributing at least $1,000 toward the project funding.
- CAP grant projects from previous years and any overdue Foundation projects and reports must be completed with the files closed prior to applying for a new CAP grant.
The Foundation Grants committee expects Rotary sponsors to appoint two Rotarians who will provide oversight and management of award funds and who will serve as contacts with the Grants Committee.

Evaluation Criteria |
Lasting Value - Will the project create something that will last within the community, either materially, spiritually, or intellectually?
High Profile - Can the project promote and display the Rotary logo via signage or other means?
PR Value - Does the grant request have a plan for letting the community know the project was sponsored by Rotarians?
Direct Involvement - Does the project allow for Rotarians to become personally involved?
Financial - Is Rotary's participation essential to making the project happen? |
