Our goal is that every one of our Rotary Clubs will hold community based fundraising events, perhaps annually during the Challenge Campaign, and raise at least $6,000 in net proceeds to be donated to PolioPlus. By using this strategy, we increase the public awareness of Rotary's 25 year global effort to eradicate polio from our world. Also, we allow the entire community to take part in providing donations for the cause.
If all of the nearly 33,000 Rotary clubs worldwide are successful in this strategy, we will be able to fulfill the challenge grant of $200 million dollars donated to The Rotary Foundation from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation..
News Release: The $200 Challenge Grant Campaign runs through June 30, 2012. So, we will strive to raise $6,000 per club between Dec. 1, 2007 and June 30, 2012. Keep in mind that some of our clubs with 8-20 members may have difficulty with this, while it may be much easier for our larger clubs.
Rotary (and our partners) WILL eradicate polio from Earth. We will fulfill our promise to the children of the world.
As of January 17, 2012 - Rotary has raised $202.6 Million toward the $200 Million Challenge!!
