Water Well project - District 3160, India

This matching grant project funded 36 water wells with handpumps throughout the region of D3160, India.
In addition to Rotary District 3160, other funding partners are Rotary Districts
6060- Missouri,
6490-east central Illinois
6510-southern Illinois
and 6710 Kentucky.
The project partner is Rotary District 3160 and the international partner is the Rotary Club of Sparta, IL, D6510. |

| Clean water is extremely scarce in this region of India, resulting in many of the poor population having to walk for hours a day to find a good source of water, or risk illness and death if a closer, contaminated water source is used. |
|
Each well will supply a small village of approximately 100 families or more, roughly 500 people. So, this project will help nearly 20,000 have a nearby source of clean water.
Our Rotary Foundation will invest just over US $1,000 for each of these wells. The partnering Rotary Districts have funded their portions of the project with District Designated Funds, so that the project funds can arrive as soon as possible once the project is approved. |
