Matching Grant #58229 Feeding Program for Malnourished Children District 3790-Philippines
This matching grant project was the first developed between Rotary Districts 3790 and 6060. It was planned to commence and be running during 2005-2006 while our two districts were sharing in a Group Study Exchange together.
This project will fund a supplemental feeding program to help 800 malnourished children aged 4-12 in 16 rural schools within District 3790. |
The Rotary Foundation is providing US $35,000 to fund this project. Volunteer Rotarians and school personnel will buy the food and share in the preparation. It costs approx. $18. a day to feed 50 children. This will occur in 16 feeding centers for six months. |
Project was funded by Districts 379 in the Philippines and 6060 in Missouri. Rotary Club of Webster Groves agreed to be the primary international sponsor club.

The children get a nutritious meal as soon as they arrive for school. They were identified by a medical team as undernourished and are re-evaluated after three months. Some may grow out of the program and replaced by others.
