Kate Schwadron Governor, 2013-2014 |
 |
|
Kate Schwadron is a writer who lives in St. Louis MO. Her articles on gardening and horticulture, as well as her literary essays, have been published in magazines, journals, and newspapers, and in some e-zines on the Internet.
Involvement in Rotary was a wedding present to Kate from her husband, Howard Schwadron, a Rotarian for 30 years and a dentist practicing in Louisiana, MO. His love for Rotary quickly became contagious, and Kate has followed in his footsteps in her passionate involvement in Rotary on the Club, District, and international level. Kate has been a Rotarian since early 2005, and she is a Past President of the Lambert Airport Rotary Club. She is an enthusiastic participant in the activities of both her club and Howard’s: the Rotary Club of Louisiana, MO.
On the District level, Kate was the Volunteer Chair for three years, and she has been an Assistant Governor and Co-Chair of the District Grants Subcommittee with Howard for one year. With Howard, she has attended five Rotary International Conventions, and two Rotary World Peace Symposiums.
Internationally, Kate and Howard have travelled to Africa six times on Rotary missions, three of which were Polio National Immunization Days. They were recipients of the International Service Award for a Polio-Free World, awarded by the Rotary Foundation Trustees, 2008-2009. Howard and Kate are also Major Donors and members of the Bequest Society.
Kate and Howard have five children and two grandchildren. | |
